Experience really is important
It has been said that education is expensive. (For those of you in the same age bracket as myself, I am not referring to the direct and indirect expen$e of the post “secondary learning experience.”) A person either pays to be educated through schooling or seminars, or they learn the hard way…through trial and error.
We are fortunate to have some of the most experienced employees in central Minnesota. That experience has been acquired through training, discipline, and unfortunately, through trial and error. I am the first to admit that we are not perfect; we have made mistakes in the past 44 years of business in Hutchinson. However, I can assure you that we have learned from those situations, and are better contractors and business people because of that.
The experience we have gained through the years is very obvious when it comes to water intrusion. Having a vast amount of knowledge as a home builder, and through our relationship with ABC Seamless Siding/Gutters, we have a huge competitive advantage over our competition when it comes to addressing the issue of water intrusion.
Did you know that a 1-inch rainfall will deposit 1,250 gallons of water on a 2,000 square-foot roof? And even more alarming is that during a wind-driven rain, a wall doesn’t know it is not a roof. Therefore, it is imperative that your contractor fully understand things like kick out flashings, divertors, sill pans, and drip edge. Without that knowledge, without experience, your contractor will be creating more issues for you in the long run.
Don’t end up like the picture above. Water damage can cost thousands of dollars, mold contamination can have serious health side affects. When making the decision on which contractor to use for your home improvement needs, understand there is more to the project than the lowest bid!
